You can view existing Outgoing Types by going to Settings > Chart of Accounts or Purchases > Outgoing Types. Outgoing types can be thought of categories of expenditure. An outgoing type will appear on your reports such as trail balance and profit & loss. Outgoing types can contain sub-going types, these can also be linked to Sales Types and used in Stock Control. An example would be:
- Sales Type = “White Shirts”.
- + Product = “Size Small”.
- + Product = “Size Medium”.
- + Product = “Size Large”.
Outgoing types can help you organise your reports, effectively track how much money your spending on a specific type of expenditure and can be used in stock management and control.
Adding Outgoing Types
To add a new Outgoing Type, on the Outgoing Type page (Purchases > Outgoing Types) enter in the name of the Outgoing Type in the text box labelled “Enter outgoing type name”. The number in the text box immediately to the left is the nominal code for this new sales type. When ready, click the Add button.
Deleting an Outgoing Type
You can delete an Outgoing Type in two ways; by going to Settings > Outgoing Types then either:
- Delete individually – Clicking on the Outgoing Type and then clicking the Delete button.
- Delete more than one at once – ticking the boxes down the right of the Outgoing Type list, selecting Delete Outgoing Types in the select an action box, click Go.
Please note, if you delete an Outgoing Type that has transactions assigned against it all transactions will be re-assigned to the default nominal code. Outgoing Types deletions cannot be undone.
Default Outgoing Type
Your default Outgoing Type is the Outgoing Type that appears when you first add a line item to the receipt for ALL suppliers. Change this by going to Settings > Outgoing Types > Select the new default outgoing type using the drop down at the bottom of the page > Click Update. You can change this on a per supplier basis. The per customer default outgoing type will take precedence.
